Glam Nation Tour

Adam Lambert Glam Nation Tour – June 4, 2010
Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, Wilkes Barre, PA

wilkes barre, kirby theaterNoskerdycat and I checked into our hotel. It was right across the town square from the Kirby Theater. The streaming marquis that says “ADAM LAMBERT”  was  part of the view from the room.  I screamed a little as it went by. Our plans included dinner and a Glamily Reunion at Rodano’s right next to the theater.

It was time to start Glamming it up.

After we got ready, Noskerdycat (Nosk) had a ticket she had to get to someone. So she called her and talked to her hubby. He told Nosk that she was down in the hotel bar and was wearing white pants, a black shirt and had glitter on her face. I cracked up and said, “That probably describes half the people in the bar”. So we had a laugh.

When we got down there, people recognized me from my avatar picture on adamofficial.com. Next we went across the town square for the party. The Reunion was in a separate room where we had Adam music, pizza, wings, salad and a cake. Someone made a banner that we all signed and they gave it to Tommy to give to Adam. After practicing the “Fever” dance, (My YouTube debut thanks to Noskerdycat).  I’m the fat one in front (red sweater) and way off to the side where no one other than Nosk will notice and film me.  I’m still friends with her believe it or not.  LOL

Now, off to the theater next door.

Doors were to open at 7:00 to start selling merchandise. It was very crowded in the lobby so we decided to wait until later to shop. I was hoping for a tour book but I didn’t see any. I had a hard time picking my favorite t-shirt but I decided that the gray one with Jimmy Neutron blowing a kiss was the best for me. The doors open and I was thrilled to find out that we were only 10 rows back from the stage. Aaaaaaagh! We get to our seats and mine is seat 111. There was someone in one of our seats. So we contacted an usher and got the situation straightened out. Thank you to the staff and management at the Kirby Center for handling the situation. At first Nosk thought that she was scammed. But she later realized that there was probably an honest mistake.

Allison was first and that little girl can ROCK!

She looks great, moves great and sounds great. It looks like she went to the “Adam Lambert School of Rock.” I’m an ’80s girl so I enjoyed her cover of Pat Benetar’s “Heartbreaker”. Orianthi came out to play guitar on one song. Her set seemed short. They had an intermission to set up for Orianthi.

There was an intermission and it was Orianthi’s turn.

I’m not crazy about her voice but her guitar playing is just crazy. Speaking of “crazy”, her last song was “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince. Again, I’m an ’80′s girl so this made me happy although she was half way through the song before I figured out what she was singing. She ended by tossing a handful of picks into the crowd. They had another intermission. It seemed like they could have just had a quick change of bands in between Allison and Orianthi and just had one intermission. But I guess this allows time for people to go out and check out the merchandise.

You could feel the anticipation in the air.

Crew is setting up for Adam and they bring out a set of steps for in the center.  They put up a picture of his FYE CD cover and played FYE. They had a couple different pics come up, my favorite being the “Frontiers” cover shot. The other thing that was ironic is that when we were in Rodano’s for the party, there were the letters spelling out “frontier” outside in a courtyard. I took a picture of it. Anyway, back to Glam Nation.

Everyone stood up. So it was hard for me to see.

The auditorium was too small to set up big video screens. I remember that for AI concert I liked to look at those to see some good close-ups. Adam appears at the top of the steps. You have to watch some vids to see the outfits. He’s wearing a jacket with long fringe on the sleeves, a top hat and lace crotch pants. Please help me.

He sang “Voodoo” and then went straight into “Down the Rabbit Hole”. He finished and walked to the top of the steps. He knelt down, removed the hat and jacket and began to sing “Ring of Fire”. What a treat that was to experience live. His voice was amazing. There is a lot going on between dancers, video and lasers besides not wanting to take your eyes off of Adam. I’m glad there are some great vids because I noticed after watching ROF that there was a nice slow crotch stroke.

I sort of went into some kind of trance after ROF. . .

because I don’t remember the order of songs. He sang 13 songs. He did not sing “Pick U Up”, “Loaded Smile” or “Time for Miracles”, but sang everything else on the CD. He changed quickly into some different outfits. Again, watch the videos. The encore was a faster version of “Mad World” that was similar to the “Tears for Fears” version. I think I mentioned that I am an ’80′s girl, so I liked this.

I have to admit that I could not tell you what my favorite song was.

Nosk and I both agreed that “Sure Fire Winners” sounded especially good. But the sound on the vids we saw didn’t confirm that. He really wailed. I figured if I could go to another five or six shows that I may be able to make a determination about a favorite. But for now, anything Adam is good enough for me. I also admit that I am not a very good psychic. Although driving with Nosk, we got a lot of 804s (my number prompt) and 111s.  I had predicted that Paula Abdul would be there and she was not.

After I bought my t-shirt and Nosk bought the “Eye of Horus” shirt

it was off to the barricades to see if Adam would be signing stuff. We picked a place to stand where there were only a few people. Nosk tried to figure out which bus was Adam’s. There were 4 buses and one big trailer truck. We saw people getting on and off buses. We recognized some dancers and band members. We were standing right by one of the bus doors. We asked one man who he was, trying to get some info. We were told that we would probably not see Adam.

I had 2 copies of my “Bells & Whistles” script with me. They were in folders that said, “Adam” and “Neil”. I talked to one man and asked if he could give anything to Adam since I figured he wouldn’t be able to take anything. He said he couldn’t guarantee that Adam would get it. I figured I had nothing to lose. So I gave him Adam’s script. Then we saw Neil. He got on the bus right by us which we figured was a crew bus. I stopped him and gave him his script. He seemed confused that someone was giving him something.

Security started to prepare for Adam’s exit. All of a sudden about five security people and one taller person with a gray hoodie on (Adam) ran to one of the buses. About a minute later the bus pulls out first and I get a picture as it drives by me.

I was within a couple feet of Adam!
