I LOVE HIM LIKE MY CHILD: I can completely relate to Leila and EberAdam’s parents and how they feel when Adam makes them proud. For some reason I feel proud when Adam performs. And don’t even get me started on the protective thing.
I LOVE HIM LIKE A PARENT: I look up to him for all kinds of advice and feel a need to obey him. He suggests me to vote, to buy something or to watch a video and I do it as though I am seeking his parental approval.
I LOVE HIM LIKE A STUDENT: As a young man I feel a need to correct him. I note his spelling errors and get a little twinge when he uses certain curse words.
I LOVE HIM LIKE A TEACHER: It is humbling to accept that a 29 year old, gay, reality TV show runner-up is teaching me so much. I credit Adam with teaching me about acceptance. Because of Adam I have made many contacts. From these contacts I have made friends. At the concerts I have met other fans. Many of them recognized me and tell me how much they love my posts on Adam’s official site. What is incredible is that these people became my friends first, before I had a chance to see what they looked like. And most of them look nothing like me. In my pre-Adam life, if I was in a social situation I would gravitate toward someone who was my same race, age and had similar clothing, indicating a similar income group. I can say that I was “shocked” to find that my dear friends are young teens, grandparents, male and female, red, yellow, black and white (or the new politically correct “every shade from dark to light”), different sexual orientations, different religions and with different political views. I have learned so much not just from Adam but from his fans who are now my friends.
I LOVE HIM AS MY SPIRITUAL ADVISOR: This one is difficult because I half joke that Adam is either the second coming or the anti-Christ. Adam is inspiring. He inspires me to love myself and to love others. He inspires me to be myself and to be my higher self and to follow my dreams.
I LOVE HIM AS A FAN: He entertains me on so many levels. I enjoy looking at his photographs with that light-filled smile, mesmerizing eyes, every inch of his beautiful body and sense of style, wearing a suit, a costume or jeans and a tee. I enjoy listening to his interviews and his ability to connect with anyone and to always know what to say and having a great sense of humor. I enjoy watching videos with the way he moves his body. I enjoy listening to his voice, whether it’s his CD, his Idol performances or his pre-Idol work, from the tender ballads to the rocker wail. I enjoy experiencing his live performances, where he is more beautiful than in the photos and has a voice that I can feel.
I LOVE HIM LIKE A PORN STAR: OK, “love” probably isn’t the right word, but I watch his sexy videos and instead of wanting to have sex with him, he makes me just want to have sex. This is why my husband doesn’t complain about my obsession. Adam makes me feel sexy. I haven’t had this much sex since high school. LOL
When asked to describe Adam in one word, my word is “LOVE”.
