Who came away with a win on American Idol this year?
Adam Lambert.

Adam was the runner-up on American Idol Season 8 and I think they have done everything possible to make it up to him.

Season 9 he returned to mentor the contestants for Elvis week and sang his hit “Whataya Want From Me” the following night in a beam of green laser light.

For Season 10 he performed an acoustic version of “Aftermath”. A remix became available to raise money for The Trevor Project.

Adam performed his second single “Never Close Our Eyes” from his album “Trespassing” during Season 11with Ryan Seacrest even announcing on the finale show that Adam replaced Carrie Underwood in the #1 Billboard spot.

Rumors circulated that Adam was one of the final candidates to be a judge for season 12. When Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were named to join Randy Jackson, I still predicted he would return as a judge while many of his fans wished he would distance himself from a show whose ratings were sinking. With no new material to promote, many figured Adam would not even appear on Season 12. Then the last week of the “Where Are They Now” segments was saved for the best, most exciting contestant to ever grace the Idol stage, Adam Lambert! At the end of the show Ryan announced that Adam would be on the finale to sing a special duet.

It was a fun week of speculation. Will he sing with a contestant? Who is worthy? Adam owns every stage he’s on. Will he sing a new song? He was photographed in the studio recently and he helped write the theme song for Life Ball. What will he wear? What kind of crazy stage set will we see? Can we expect rhinestones on his eyes, a new leather jacket, lasers, smoke, lightning bolts, riding in on a unicorn?
NOPE
He appeared with no introduction, back to the audience, wearing almost no makeup or nail polish, wearing a tee shirt, unlaced boots and understated (at least by Glambert standards) dark jacket.

And it was PERFECTION.
Every note, every movement, every look, every inflection…
By allowing Angie Miller to be the STAR, Adam Lambert proved that he is a SUPERSTAR by every definition.

As they say, “High tide lifts all boats” and Adam Lambert is that tide. I have never been more proud to be a Glambert.

On that note, Adam isn’t touring in the US this year. I think it’s because Idol is going to make a ton of changes and they will bring him in as a judge or mentor or something where he will be needed this summer. I believe the deal was made a long time ago. Fortunately Adam is making a few stops, one of which is in my home town, Pittsburgh.
If you thought the performance on Idol was amazing,
