Adam Lambert is WINNING!

Who came away with a win on American Idol this year?

Adam Lambert.

Winner Idol

Adam was the runner-up on American Idol Season 8 and I think they have done everything possible to make it up to him.

runner up

Season 9 he returned to mentor the contestants for Elvis week and sang his hit “Whataya Want From Me” the following night in a beam of green laser light.

green Idol

For Season 10 he performed an acoustic version of “Aftermath”.  A remix became available to raise money for The Trevor Project.

Aftermath

Adam performed his second single “Never Close Our Eyes” from his album “Trespassing” during Season 11with Ryan Seacrest even announcing on the finale show that Adam replaced Carrie Underwood in the #1 Billboard spot.

ncoe Idol

Rumors circulated that Adam was one of the final candidates to be a judge for season 12. When Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were named to join Randy Jackson, I still predicted he would return as a judge while many of his fans wished he would distance himself from a show whose ratings were sinking. With no new material to promote, many figured Adam would not even appear on Season 12. Then the last week of the “Where Are They Now” segments was saved for the best, most exciting contestant to ever grace the Idol stage, Adam Lambert! At the end of the show Ryan announced that Adam would be on the finale to sing a special duet.

on a unicorn

It was a fun week of speculation. Will he sing with a contestant? Who is worthy? Adam owns every stage he’s on. Will he sing a new song? He was photographed in the studio recently and he helped write the theme song for Life Ball. What will he wear? What kind of crazy stage set will we see? Can we expect rhinestones on his eyes, a new leather jacket, lasers, smoke, lightning bolts, riding in on a unicorn?

NOPE

He appeared with no introduction, back to the audience, wearing almost no makeup or nail polish, wearing a tee shirt, unlaced boots and understated (at least by Glambert standards) dark jacket.

Idol 12 8

  And it was PERFECTION.

Every note, every movement, every look, every inflection…

By allowing Angie Miller to be the STAR, Adam Lambert proved that he is a SUPERSTAR by every definition.

Adam or angie star

As they say, “High tide lifts all boats” and Adam Lambert is that tide. I have never been more proud to be a Glambert.

On that note, Adam isn’t touring in the US this year. I think it’s because Idol is going to make a ton of changes and they will bring him in as a judge or mentor or something where he will be needed this summer. I believe the deal was made a long time ago. Fortunately Adam is making a few stops, one of which is in my home town, Pittsburgh.

If you thought the performance on Idol was amazing,

what you really need to do is experience him LIVE!

New Predictions for Adam Lambert

Wheels are turning, things are simmering in the pot and

Glamberts are asking me what’s going on.

No reason for this pic other than I like it. LOL

No reason for this pic other than I like it. LOL

I’ve said all along that

Adam Lambert will CHANGE the way we listen to and buy music.

Three albums later (For Your Entertainment, Glam Nation Live and Trespassing) and only one hit, “Whataya Want From Me”. So if I say that he will CHANGE the way we listen to and buy music, it is safe to assume that Adam will not release a song to radio, make a video, have the song go Platinum and everyone lives happily ever after because that is not a CHANGE.

Adam tried this pattern with TRESPASSING, releasing 2 videos and 3 songs.

Adam did a radio promo tour last Summer but radio didn’t play his songs.

Adam did a mini tour in Asia and Eastern Europe and is wildly successful there but has only 2 shows shceduled here in the US, Pittsburgh Pride on 6/15 and The San Diego County Fair on 7/2.

Adam is a full blown celebrity here. Everywhere he goes people want to meet and be photographed with him, yet his music sales do not reflect that popularity even though it has received critical acclaim. I’ve explored some reasons for this in past blogs, but figure Adam is looking forward with lessons learned.

Here is what I think will happen: A long time ago I predicted that Adam would front QUEEN and I predicted it would be for AIDS charity. Last Summer Elton John opened for QUEEN + Adam Lambert to 250,000 people in the streets of Kiev for AIDS. It was his largest live audience to date.

Queen, Adam and Elton poster

Since then Adam has been much more visible, active and comfortable in his role as a spokesperson (click here for ATT Trevor Project) for the LGBTQ community

In studio for #3

This pic appeared AFTER I made my prediction.

and I see this as (off-color pun intended) a back door entrance to a hit single. Adam is rumored to be working with Nile Rodgers, Avicii and Idol’s Russell Graham and is in contact with Brian May from Queen. I see them working on a song to be released with proceeds going to a charity related to the LGBTQ community.   This will be HUGE, like in a “We Are The World” kind of way. This song, in all its awesomeness, like WATW, will be universally loved. Radio will be forced to play it or look like bigoted, racist, homophobic asshats. Not only will this song be successful but it will call attention to the issues being faced by the LGBTQ community, again with a back door approach. Adam has been criticized for who his fans are. But the irony is that he has opened and changed a lot of their minds. I think the song will surprise many as it will be uptempo and positive. I also think that much like he debuted “Outlaws of Love” in Ste. Agathe, Adam will unveil the song in

PITTSBURGH!

UPDATE:  Adam was asked to appear on the finale of American Idol on May 16th.  I’ve made predictions in the past about Adam on Idol and here is what I predict will happen.  Adam will appear and may sing “A CHANGE is Gonna Come” or that new song (if it’s ready) that I predicted he would debut in Pittsburgh.  Adam will also talk about the Trevor Project and other things he is doing this Summer for the LGBTQ community.  Another CHANGE will be to American Idol.  Look for the announcement that Adam will be a judge or have another roll next season!

UPDATE 5/12/2013:  I’ve been saying since the beginning of the American Idol season that Adam would be on and I knew that they had a film crew on site when Adam was in Asia.  So it didn’t take a psychic.  LOL  But as soon as I heard he would be on the finale, I began to make all kinds of predictions, mostly on online articles about it.  I linked it to Adam being a judge next season and now many things point to that.  I think that by having his “WHERE ARE THEY NOW” segment as the last one and telling the Glamberts that he will be singing a “special duet” was a way for FOX to see how many viewers they could add if Glamberts came back.  I’ve also been making predictions about the duet.  What would be “special” about a duet.  My prediction is that it will be one of Angie’s original songs and she will sing it with Adam.  Then it will be released as her first single.  It will also show up on Adam’s next album.  This will be such a great way for Idol to make some CHANGES and to say that they are successful at launching STARS, and not just with the winners.  Then I saw this article: http://cartermatt.com/61523/american-idol-notes-adam-lamberts-glaad-award-angie-millers-you-set-me-free/

Lambskinin: A Fairy Tail

I’ve been holding back on discussing the Adam Lambert and Sauli Koskinin breakup because I didn’t want to look like a Monday morning quarterback and I really didn’t see this coming. But I should have seen it and I needed to look back and see what I missed and why.

It is no secret that I was upset about Adam’s “Not In the USA/We are Glamily Tour.” But truly, I was HAPPY that he was having so much international success. But NOTHING anyone could say would make me feel good. And when I saw that Adam said the split had begun a few months back, maybe that is what I felt. In fact I think I even said that it felt like Adam was “breaking up” with his USA fans and running away. The most disturbing part to me was that there were no dates scheduled for the USA or anywhere after March 22 in Finland. It’s like Adam was just ENDING with no plans for the future.

All of a sudden Adam releases a short rehearsal video of him singing Rhianna’s STAY, and the Glamberts were speculating that he and Sauli broke up. Adam sings songs about heartache and sadness as well as partying and joy, so I didn’t read anything into it other than it seemed odd that he would choose a song that was a current hit. Any comparisons that would be made would certainly show that Adam sang it better anyway.

Adam and Sauli were not seen together during the mini tour. I looked at the schedule and saw a few days where they could have met for a little getaway, but strangely Adam went away with the band and friends. Surely he needed a fix by then. I still thought nothing of this because I figured they were meeting up and that the press in Asia and Eastern Europe wasn’t as transfixed on this relationship as we were in the US. I even joked that Adam could “hire” Sauli to play cowbell just so they could be together.

The Finland show was getting closer and closer and I had fantasies of Adam bringing Sauli on stage and treating us to… (fill in your best Lambskinin fanfic here). I was expecting some priceless banter from Adam about being Finland’s son-in-law and I expected Adam to chat about his relationship and how it inspired some of the songs on TRESPASSING. All we got was a mere mention of the name “Sauli” before Adam sang BROKEN ENGLISH.

I was relieved when Adam’s “MIAMI PRIDE” performance was announced as it meant he was coming home. But sadly as soon as Adam arrived home he revealed to a Miami news source that he and Sauli had split but remained friends.

Sauli leading the way. A rare occasion

My FIRST reaction, after a few tears, was that with the Finland show scheduled, they had to keep up appearances. Ironically, right now I am listening to Pandora and they are playing WHATAYA WANT FROM ME from ACOUSTIC LIVE. Adam Tweeted the video when he parted ways with Monte Pittman. Now WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS is playing which is Freddie’s way of reminding me what I should be writing about, his recent four (now five) visits. Be patient Freddie. I’ll get to it.

My thoughts went to trying to figure what went wrong and I realized this was the classic FAIRY TALE of the DAMSEL IN DISTRESS. The tale ends when the damsel is rescued by the knight in shining armor or the handsome prince. They live “happily ever after” or so we are lead to believe. In real life something different happens if the damsel isn’t chained to the bed, ever let out of the house or given a chance to grow and learn and become stronger. The prince or knight only has power as long as the damsel is in distress. Once the cute little blond can survive and make a life of her/his own, the relationship will fall apart.

This is what I think and feel happened: Adam met Sauli in Finland but brought him here, out of his element, where he had little or no power not having English as his first language. Adam had him move in with him and Adam seemed to take care of almost everything. Besides, they both spoke the international language of love. There are no words needed to make that connection. Once into the relationship though, there needs to be deep conversations about life and death, religion, politics and the future. The song BROKEN ENGLISH is about this. English is a complicated language and one of the most difficult to learn. We have many words to communicate the same thing. Words have double meanings. Although Sauli knows English, it is still difficult to express feelings with words. You can’t always “read the look that’s on my face” or count on body language. Their first fight (that we knew of) was back in Finland where the tables were turned. Sauli was on his turf, speaking his language (of which Adam only knows a few phrases) and with his friends with whom he can speak of life and death, religion, politics and the future. Adam sees things on a deeper level and may have seen beyond the friendly chatter amongst friends and was jealous of the connection he saw. Although Adam blamed his reaction on jet lag and too much alcohol, those will actually remove the filter. They are soon back in Adam’s kingdom. Sauli gets some modeling gigs and meets often with Finns in LA. He continues to do Tutka shows and now he has his own TV show here. Sauli has made his own life here now. All the shows have been taped and I wonder if Sauli will remain here or return to his domain. A picture surfaced of Sauli and Niko and I got that feeling. They are “mirroring” each other in the photo. Although their relationship is not sexual,

Niko fills a hole that Adam can’t.

“Mirror Mirror”

Still Friends “Ever After”
