Well, even on a rare date with my husband, I can’t escape Adam Lambert or Queen.
I’ve mentioned this special spot on my commute to work where I pay special attention to what is playing on the radio because it is often a “message.” In the morning the song I heard was PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC followed by CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE. I then decided that I am changing my prediction for Adam’s next single from CUCKOO to the funky SHADY. Before pulling into the parking lot at work they played Aeromsmith’s CRAZY and Donna Summers’ ON THE RADIO. Since CRAZY and CUCKOO are the same thing and CRAZY is outplaying FUNKY, I’m now confused. I will need a confirmation message.

I have an idea for a QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT tour and I was thinking about it all day at work. The radio was playing and there were several messages that came on that helped me complete this idea. I knew I had to get this idea down in writing. I also had something pop into my head. I remembered smelling cedar at work in two places. It was a while ago but when I smelled it I thought it was my Father-in Law who had passed away at the beginning of 2009 because he had some cedar closets in his house and his house was the last real estate listing I sold before quitting at the end of the year.
I was excited to get home from work because my husband and I were going out to dinner. We usually just go to a bar for some cheap fried food and beer at a local bar. But since he had a nice paycheck from working some overtime, we decided to go downtown to JOE’S CRAB SHACK at STATION SQUARE.
I wanted to start writing this blog, which was supposed to be about the QUEENBERT. I usually compose most of the blog in a Word document and I usually just open an existing document from a past blog and “Save As.” Of course before I delete the old blog I like to read what I wrote. Since this would be published on 8/04 and my blog has been in existence for over a year, I went to the blog titled HAPPY 8/04. You can click and read it here, but I had a freak out moment when I saw that I wrote about smelling cedar at work. The date I smelled cedar was exactly a year before. The thing that was interesting to me was that I forgot that even mentioned it in my blog. So that’s another reason I urge any of you who have interesting coincidences, to start jotting them down in a journal.
After barely writing a sentence or two about my QUEENBERT tour idea for this blog, it was time to leave our house with the groovy front door and point the van toward Pittsburgh. The road to get on the expressway was blocked due to a water main break, so we had to detour. So the last thing I expected at 6:00 in the evening and going in the opposite direction was for WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS to come on the radio to interrupt my thinking about how much I love my husband and how glad I was to be going out for a nice dinner in some place other than a bar. So I will put a meaningful conversation with the love of my life on hold while I clap and sing.
Sorry Eddie, but now I am thinking of nothing but Adam Lambert and Queen.
We order a couple of BLUE MOON beers, Belgian beer for this half Belgian girl and a crab dip appetizer. I am thrilled to see one of my favorite foods on the menu, COCONUT SHRIMP. We order that and a pot of food that has an assortment of crustaceans as well as a couple more beers. I can’t help but think and wish about Adam coming to Pittsburgh. He was here for the Idol tour but hasn’t been back here, at least not for any concerts or promotion. Before we left the Crab Shack, I had to use the ladies room and get rid of some of that beer. Fairly buzzed (Yes, I’m a lightweight) I dash into a stall and start laughing to myself. The walls in the bathroom are covered with all kinds of pictures and vintage art. I know I have Adam on my brain, but did I see a picture of Adam on the wall? Even when I’m peeing I can’t stop thinking of Adam. When I emerge from the stall, I see four pictures of Elvis that have a striking resemblance to Adam. Eddie is there to greet me when I exit the ladies room and I had to explain the huge grin on my face.
We walk across the street to check out some of the shops. Being the patriotic American that I am, I am lured into a store that greets me with a Statue of Liberty dressed in Steelers gear. They have lots of sparkly jewelry and accessories that would be perfect for an Adam concert. I check out some leather pants and a rhinestone bikini. I see men’s clothes too with the kinds of jackets and jeans that Adam wears.
Then I see it, THE HOLY GRAIL of thingses I could wear to an Adam Lambert concert.
They have a DANCING WATERS fountain at Station Square and the current set of music is all Frank Sinatra. Being a Pisces, I could stare at moving water for hours. We stood in a spot where we were lightly misted by the water. We left when the set ended with NEW YORK, NEW YORK. I had to pee again so we went back into the mall. I wanted to see what the name of the shop we were in so I could go back someday and get some things to wear when QUEENBERT (Just said “Queen of Layaway” on a Kmart commercial) comes to Pittsburgh. The name of the store is NEW YORK, NEW YORK.
With that, I say that the QUEENBERT tour will open in New York, New York on December 21, 2012.
On our way home we decided we needed some dessert. GLEN’S CUSTARD always wins. I think about Adam again because if he ever comes (I mean, when he comes) to Pittsburgh, he must try some frozen custard. When we pull into the parking lot, LET’S GO CRAZY by PRINCE comes on the radio. Well, there’s another CRAZY reference and a royalty reference with PRINCE. When we pull out of the parking lot it’s KILLER QUEEN playing on the radio. I can’t help but remember what I want to write my blog about. LOL
