I am scratching my head over the decision to release “Never Close Our Eyes” (NCOE) as Adam Lambert’s next single off of “Trespassing.”
I’ve started a Twitter campaign to dare Adam Lambert to sing the title track, “Trespassing” on American Idol tonight instead of NCOE.
Now that the album has dropped and we’ve listened to it several (many) times, we realize more and more that “Better Than I Know Myself” (the first single that tanked) and “Never Close Our Eyes” are not like any of the other songs.
They don’t fit in.
They do nothing to support the mission statement of the album.
The title track, “Trespassing”, is the mission statement and the other songs support the mission statement.
I am using Adam’s own lyrics to urge him to trespass all over the way we listen to and purchase music.
“No trespassing, Yeah, my ass, wait ’til ya get a load of me”
“Make their faces crack, there’s no turning back”
“I ain’t got BS in my bag”
“Walk that walk like u don’t give a fuck”
“Tonight we’re takin’ over the town”
“I’m swinging off of my hinges, I’m cocked and I’m ready to go”
“Gotta get out of this strait jacket”
“All I wanna be is free”
“Turn it up turn it up turn it up turn it way up”
“Do you feel it kickin’ in?”
“So roll the dice, get lucky tonight”
“No more hesitation”
“left, right, step up to the spotlight”
“If you wanna be it you gotta dream it”
“Work, bitch, you don’t gotta stress this”
“Got em feeling restless, show em how it’s done”
“Never mind what’s on the left, you’re gonna see things ya might not wanna see”
“Welcome to my world of truth, I don’t wanna hide any part of me”
“I’m standing here with no apologies, such a beautiful release”
“We could go so far with our minds wide open”
“A life that’s always been a dream, I’ll wake up now and live”
“Give yourself to the rush”
And the last line on the deluxe version of “Trespassing” is: “Watch the mystic and cryptic unfold as we fly high.”
I had to run to the grocery store to pick up some things for dinner. The store is a 5 minute drive from my house. I figured I would scan through my set radio stations before catching a few minutes of my favorite song, “Broken English.” The last station was at the beginning of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” I know Freddie Mercury wants Adam to fearlessly be himself, and like Queen did back in the 70s, run as far away from the mainstream as possible.
RUN Adam, RUN as fast as you can. And if you run over a few radio pinheads, turn around and run over them again. You are destined to change the way we listen to and buy music.
Start tonight by screaming a big F(_)CK YOU! and sing “Trespassing” on American Idol.
